About:
A timeless icon of modernist design, the NY Chair by Japanese designer Takeshi Nii was first introduced in 1958 and remains a permanent fixture in the Museum of Modern Art's collection. Inspired by the practical elegance of foldaway director’s chairs, the NY Chair is a seamless blend of function and form. The name pays homage both to Nii’s family name and to the Danish word for “new,” reflecting its Scandinavian-influenced minimalism.
Carefully Curated Studios has thoughtfully restored and reimagined this vintage piece, upholstering it in a rich chocolate brown suede for a warm, tactile update. We've also added a custom detachable roll pillow for enhanced neck and back support, marrying comfort with timeless style.
The chair folds down to a slim profile for effortless storage, yet offers a surprisingly luxurious seating experience. Its original lightweight chrome and maple wood frame allows for easy mobility, making it as versatile as it is iconic.
